At the annual day celebrations of the Confederation of industry-Goa chapter late Wednesday Chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar said that “the 2015-2016 state budget is likely to focus on employment generation and Make in India initiatives, while simultaneously continuing the social welfare schemes that are currently in place.” While refusing to reveal the other details of the state budget Parsekar said that “the Social welfare schemes needed to be continued, preparing the budget has been a challenging task and I depend on the business community to emerge successfully from the new financial year.” He acknowledged that it was particularly difficult to prepare the state budget during the slump in the mining sector.
Speaking regarding the issue of the presence of off shore casinos in Goa he pointed out that the removal of casinos from Mandovi River was not a suitable step as not only were the casino legal, but by removing them it would send a wrong signal to investors. Adding further he said that “the Investors need to have faith in the government as they are catering to some of our boys and girls.”
Speaking earlier about supply chain management in India, Harsh Bahadur, strategic advisor and consultant, Price water house coopers have urged that both politicians and industry heads not to impede the Central Government’s push for transparency, particularly with regard to the Goods and service Tax.
While also emphasizing on the speedy implementation of pending proposals new chairman for CII Goa state council, Parag Joshi expressed his hope that the government’s budget will focus on the progress and employment.
