Panjin is a prefecture-level city and a major oil production centre of  Liaoning province, People’s Republic of China, and is situated on the northern coast of Liaodong Bay of the Bohai Gulf. It borders Anshan to the northeast and east, Yingkou across the Liao River, as well as Jinzhou to the west and northwest. The city has an administrative area of 4,071 square kilometres (1,572 sq mi), is home to 1.39 million people all in the built-up area made of 2 urban districts plus Dawa and Panshan Counties being urbanized.

The Red Beach is located in the Liaohe River Delta, about 30 kilometer southwest of Panjin City in China. The beach gets its name from its appearance, which is caused by a type of sea weed that flourishes in the saline-alkali soil. The weed that start growing during April or May remains green during the summer. In autumn, this weed turns flaming red, and the beach looks as if it was covered by an infinite red carpet that creates a rare red sea landscape. Most of the Red Beach is a nature reserve and closed to the public. Only a small, remote, section is open for tourists.

Red seabeach is famous for its landscape featuring the red plant of Chenopodiaceae, Suaeda salsa. It is based in the biggest wetland and reed marsh in the world. The landscape is composed of shallow seas and tide-lands. The Sueda species is one of the few species of grass that can live in highly alkaline soil. Its growth cycle starts in April when it is coloured light red, while the colour of the mature species is deep red.

Panjin Shuangtaizi River mouth state-level nature protectionarea preserves the most completed ecosystem and the biggest wetland in the world. More than 260 kinds of birds and 399 kinds of wild animals live in it. It was promoted to the state-level nature protection area in 1988 has applied to join the International person and biosphere protectorate network.

The largest reed marsh in Asia is also located here, attracting many tourists. The reeds are used to make paper. The Red-crowned Crane also reproduces here and it is also the endangered black-mouth gull’s largest breeding area. Sand is probably one of the necessary components you think of when envisioning a beach. Not true however with the Panjin Red Beach in China. This beach is actually a protected marshland with no sandy shoreline and is instead covered with a brilliant sea grass.

You can even find he endangered Crowned Cranes and Black Billed Gulls, which have caused the marsh to be dubbed “home of the cranes.” Red Beach is a popular stopping point for migratory birds on their route from East Asia to Australia.

The Red Beach has invested over RMB15 million to create its development projects including reception center and dock. Facilities include hotel, restaurant, hot spring bathing, a meeting house and more. The compound values the ethos of ecotourism, with sustainably designed structures and carefully maintained tours into the reserve.

Red Beach is a convenient destination form Panjin City. Panjin City is northeast of Beijing near the coast of Liaodong Bay in the south of Liaoning Province. The Red Beach nature reserve is 30 kilometers southwest on the city. There are fast trains leaving seven times each day from Beijing to Panjin, and the fastest trains take about three hours to reach the northern city.
