BJP led coalition government in the state have only two ministerial berths left after allotting all the major portfolios amongst the candidates of the alliances. All the important portfolios have been retained by the CM Parrikar himself at the time of allotment making many candidates unhappy within the party.

According to the sources, there seems to be lot of protest inside the party itself over not getting the cabinet births inspite of being elected on the BJP tickets. Mr. Parrikar, who has mastered this game is now trying to keep some important people happy by allotting the last two berths. Cabral who said be sending the messages through his party workers, has the brighter chances of getting the ministerial berth in the Cabinet while Vishwajit had been promised the berth long before his exit from Congress, claimed the sources.

The sources have revealed that, Mr. Parrikar would be visiting Delhi on 30th March to discuss about the cabinet expansion with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National president Amit Shah. The cabinet berth of Vishwajit Rane have already been reserved while the final decision on the Cabral’s induction will be taken only after the meeting with party leaders, said the sources.

According to the sources, Nilesh Cabral, two time Curchorem MLA is said to be the dark horse in the race of ministerial berth while the Dabolim MLA who joined the BJP prior to the election may also be considered for the above vacate post. According to sources, though Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho, a former Congressman who joined BJP before assembly election, is insisting on his induction into the cabinet but Cabral could be the first choice of the party as well as the Chief Minister, revealed the sources.

MR. PARRIKAR HAS DISTRIBUTED MAJOR CHUNK OF PORTFOLIOS AMONGST THE MEMBERS OF ALLIANCE

Meanwhile the sources have also revealed the secret of Vishwajit’s exit from the Congress stating that his seat in the new coalition government was reserved long back. “It is no more a secret that Vishwajit, who resigned as MLA soon after taking oath on March 16 and also quit Congress party, would be inducted into the state cabinet,” said the sources. Parrikar inducted nine MLAs into his cabinet on March 14 of which only two are from BJP whereas seven are from the coalition partners. The two cabinet berths lying vacant are likely to be filled in the next week.

Meanwhile, there are disagreement amongst the party workers over the claims of ministerial berth. The party workers feels that, Cabral is a two-time BJP MLA from South Goa’s Curchorem constituency and hence he should be the first choice for a ministerial berth. But Godinho, who was Congress MLA for many years, is a defector and it would send a wrong signal to others if the Dabolim MLA is made a minister, as the Chief Minster has already inducted Cumbharjua MLA Pandurang Madkaikar, who also joined BJP just before election.

There seems to be huge amount of discontent amongst the party workers on the selection of the candidates for the ministerial berths. Although many said to have sacrificed their ambition of becoming the cabinet minister this time but internally none of them are seems to be happy, said the sources. According to the sources, many BJP workers are insisting that the party leadership should induct Cabral into the cabinet, as he represents the remote Quepem taluka, which has had no representation in the cabinet since more than a decade and the argument is likely to find favour with the Curchorem MLA when a decision is taken by the party on whom to induct into the cabinet.

MR. PARRIKAR CAN MANAGE THINGS VERY EFFICIENTLY

Meanwhile, the Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said to have sacrificed the cabinet berth with an intention of allowing the coalition government led by Parrikar to run smoothly, although in one of the interview Micheal had uttered that he would have been happier if he had to get the cabinet berth. There is lot more juggling work will be required to put in by the CM to make sure that this government completes its tenure without any hurdles as there are many twists and turns waiting for him in the future.
