THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THE CATTLE CREATING A NUISANCE BY BLOCKING THE NATIONAL HIGHWAYS. IT’S SPREAD ALL OVER THE STATE. FINALLY, IT IS MUTE ANIMAL, AND JUST BECAUSE IT SITS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROADS, DOES NOT GIVE DRIVERS A RIGHT TO KILL THEM. THE MAJOR REASON BEHIND ALL THESE ACCIDENTS IS NOT THE CATTLE, BUT THE RASH AND NEGLIGENT DRIVING. RECENTLY FOUR COWS WERE CRUSHED UNDER THE WHEELS ON THE RIBANDAR BYPASS, AND YESTERDAY A SPEEDING CAR KNOCKED DOWN A CALF ON THE SAME ROAD.

According to the sources, the car was traveling at a very high speed wherein the driver could not control the speed, and unable to apply the brakes, crashed into a calf which was crossing the road. The small animal died on the road after some time, and its body was lying on the road side for the reversal hours.

The sources have revealed that the impact of the accident was so severe that the front portion of the Maruti Celerio car was completely damaged, you can only imagine the state of a poor animal. Due to the impact, the occupants in the car also received minor injuries, said the sources.

ANOTHER CAR INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT ON RIBANDAR BYPASS

The incident took place on a Sunday afternoon on the Ribandar bypass road which has become an accident prone zone. The Goa Prism reporter managed to collect footage of the post-accident scenario showing the condition of the car after the impact.

The driver narrated that he thought that the cattle will pass by but, his judgment went wrong, and the car hit the calf resulting in its death. The driver confirmed that there were no major injuries to the four occupants of the car but the front portion of the car was heavily damaged due to the impact.

According to the reports, on 26th July three cattle were killed on the same highway by another speeding car. The sources have revealed that a speeding vehicle on the Panaji-Old Goa bypass ran into three cows on Thursday at around 6 am, killing them on the spot. The number of cattle deaths on this stretch is on the rise.

The car was damaged in the accident and the fire and emergency services personnel removed the carcasses lying on the four-lane highway. The reports further said that a week ago, three cattle were killed at the Chimbel-Ribandar junction near Our Lady of Conception Chapel at Chinchwad, Chimbel.

Three cattle were injured and one killed in an accident a fortnight ago near Sai Baba temple. “Cattle are being killed regularly on this bypass road and it is high time the Chimbel panchayat set up a cattle pound behind the panchayat premises,” Tukaram Kunkolkar, a local resident said.

There is a serious need for an administration to look into this matter and deal with the people who leave their cattle out in a highly irresponsible manner despite knowing that it will result in a serious accidents. What are your views on this?
