Internet is the backbone of today’s knowledge share across the globe. Steve Jobs an American entrepreneur was perhaps the first person in the IT world who considered the internet will change the way world share the information and same thing has happened. Today more than any other invention of our time, the Internet has unlocked possibilities we could just barely imagine a generation ago.

The Net Neutrality is the accessibility to the internet across the globe should be free. Most Internet providers have treated Internet traffic equally. Nobody has to pay to browse the internet once you have subscribed for the data plans. As a startup you just need to pay the server and your site will be browsed by the millions across the globe for free and that is the essence of the net neutrality.  It says that an entrepreneur’s fledgling company should have the same chance to succeed as established corporations, and that access to a high school student’s blog shouldn’t be unfairly slowed down to make way for advertisers with more money.

The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) voted in favor of a strong net neutrality rule to keep the Internet open and free. That happened because millions of Americans across the country didn’t just care about this issue: They stood up and made their voices heard, whether by adding their names to petitions, submitting public comments, or talking with the people they know about why this matters. Read a special thank-you message from the President Obama, then learn more about how they got to where they are today.

Goa government under the leadership of Manohar Parrikar has used the internet as a very strong platform to reach their potential voters and it was indeed the innovative step in the field of election campaign in India which was followed by the present Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in the recent election. The key change maker in Narendra Modi’s election campaign was the innovative and extensive use of social media. The government has continued to use social media to raise awareness about various social and governance initiatives. This is a healthy sign as it helps to bring the government closer to the people.

Many believe that Therefore it becomes very important to understand what the Prime Minister feels about the important principle of net neutrality. As we are aware, the Prime Minister enjoy a tremendous amount of clout and goodwill not only among the government agencies and citizens but also among the corporate, and therefore just one simple statement asserting the importance of net neutrality good very well alter the course of the discussions on this subject. One such statement could end up leaving a greater impact on this debate than a million letters to TRAI.
