Fr. Bismarck’s case takes another turn with the people protesting in Panaji were manhandled by police while maintaining the law and order situation.

More than 100 people were arrested by police in the capital city today while protesting for the justice to Fr. Bismarck Dias. They have violated the terms of section 144 which was imposed by the north Goa magistrate in Panaji keeping in the mind ongoing IFFI festival in the town. The people were demanding the transparency and swiftness into the probe in the death of Fr. Bismarck. Dy Sp of Panaji Serafin Dias has confirmed the arrest of 105 people, “We have arrested 105 people and later released them on bail,” Said DySP Sarafin Dias.

According to the available information, the big mob gathered at Azad Maidan in Panaji to protest against the slow pace of police probe into the death of Fr. Bismarck. After gathering at Azad Maidan they took a protest march towards the Panaji Ferry Jetty protesting all the way, most of them were holding the black flag to register their protest against the existence of lethargy in the police system.

Although the protest was non-violent, but the police were forced to take an action against the protestors since the north Goa Magistrate has imposed section 144 in the whole of Panaji city in the backdrop of ongoing IFFI. While trying to pacify the protest police became stiffer and started manhandling the people as well as the photojournalists and pushed them also in the police jeep along with the protestors. The police did not even spare the woman who was trying to calm down the protestors.

Sudip Dalvi, one of the activists and close friend of Fr. Bismarck, told the media that he was mercilessly beaten by the police. He was admitted into GMC for treatment where he later got discharged. The arrested people were later sent to the Anjuna police station for the security reasons. The police have registered FIR against them under the bailable offence of breaching the section 144 for forming unlawful assembly and becoming the part of an unlawful assembly.

We have embedded some videos which show how the police behave with the protestors please have a look and leave your honest comments on it.
