Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has decided to implement the one way traffic in the capital city of Goa from September 1 on trial basis. The Mayor of Panaji has confirmed the fact that the corporation has resolved to implement the one way traffic from the month of September on trial basis “In the last meeting we had passed the resolution to implement one-way road traffic plan and we had suggested starting from next month. But now it has been confirmed that one way roads will start from September 1.” He said.

According to the sources the meeting was held along with Dy. SP, Traffic cell Dharmesh Angle and the corporation has decided to convert all the roads in Panaji into one way traffic from next month. The initial period of one month would be the trial period in which the traffic police will observe the pattern of movement of the traffic in the town; the defaulters will not be challaned in the trial period but they will be guided to follow the new system.

The roads which have been confirmed for the one way traffic are as follows:-

M G ROAD

DADA VAIDYA ROAD

CCP ROAD TOWARDS FERRY

MENEZES BRAGANZA ROAD

SWAMI VIVEKANANDA ROAD

The above new routes will include the existing roads on which one way traffic is already been implemented and working smoothly

According to the Dy SP Angle the city will need additional traffic police force to implement the system “However to implement this we would need additional police personnel,” He said. He also said that the traffic in other roads already flowing in one direction making the entire city one way traffic by the month of September 2015.

Meanwhile the Mayor of the city Shubham Chodankar said that they will remove the temporary signages from city very soon and proposal in this regards have already been cleared by CCP “The proposal is cleared and very soon we will remove the traffic signages from Panjim before the implementation of one-way traffic plan.” He confirmed.
