At Palms n Sands and in case you’re wondering that is their signature cocktail! Apart from which, the restaurant also offers a magnificent view of the sea so you could be forgiven for thinking it was the latter that we were referring to! You’ll find Palms n Sands at the end of a little by-lane adjacent to the Marquis Beach Resort in Candolim. Simple touches make this fairly large restaurant seem pretty. Open since 1989, the place has seen quite a few changes and celebrities since it started service. Says proprietor David Pinto, “We used to get a lot of tourists from Europe including Germany and the UK, but these days it’s more of a Russian crowd.” So much so in fact, that the restaurant has a separate Russian menu. An all-day restaurant, Palms n Sands’ strength is its kitchen. The food is amazing and you can’t go wrong with the delicately flavoured Kingfish Tikka or the succulent Roast Pork. The Onions and Sour Cream soup with croutons, the warm grilled Calamari Salad and the Grilled Lamb Chops are other bestsellers. Breakfasts are sumptuous and include the usual selection of eggs any style, muesli, yoghurts and more. Snacks feature favourites like savoury or sweet Crepes, Club Sandwiches and even the an unusual Aubergine Fries! decor-at-palm-and-sands While any restaurant/shack on the beach belt offers an all-sorts menu with Goan, …Chinese, Indian, Tandoori, Continental and Italian fare, and this one is no exception – Palms n Sands’ specialty is actually its Tandoori and Barbecue offerings and of course its wide selection of seafood. Calamari, crabs, mussels, oysters, fish including mullet, kingfish, pomfret, sea bass, red snapper and mackerel – you’ll find it all here. A fine selection of beverages to start with and a delightful dessert menu to finish – this one won’t leave gourmets disappointed.

We have known the owners: very open minded and kind couple!!!! Also, no embarassment in laying in the sun in bikini :-), since the place is visited by many tourists!! we were very glad of being there!! the only regret is that we could not be there before![/su_frame]

[su_frame]Went twice in 14 days. The location is great, just next to the Marquis Beach Resort in Candolim. Service very good. Both Goan and tandoori dishes were tasty. The pork sorpotel was great as was the cafreal and xaccuti. The setting is open with an ocean view. Nice long walk – 50 minutes to Paradise, Calungute hotel. Safe to walk on the beach at night.
