One Dead and Six Injured in a Head on Collision between two Cars at Loutolim

Most of the accidents that take place in the wee hours of the day are more fatal as the drivers take the liberty to drive fast without worrying about the traffic and that is where mistake happens. The recent fatal accident at Lotolim resulted in claiming one life and six others injured severely in a head-on collision between two cars that took place in the early morning Monday.   

According to the report published by TOI one person was killed on the spot while five others including two women were left injured after two cars collided head-on at Vanxem, Loutolim in the wee hours of Monday.

The accident occurred when the ill-fated Alto car proceeding towards Vasco and the Baleno proceeding towards Borim bridge crashed head-on at Loutolim.

The impact was such that the Alto car was completely mangled leaving its driver Francisco Fernandes (57) critically injured who succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital while one Amar Naik has been shifted to GMC in a critical condition.

The accident occurred at 3 am. Fernandes was on his way to Goa International Airport, Dabolim to pick up his son who was arriving from abroad. Amar Naik, a resident of Ponda, was driving his Baleno and was trying to overtake the vehicle ahead of him when he ran into Fernandes’ car.

Fernandes another son Richard as well another occupant Monica Fernandes were injured but were discharged after preliminary treatment.

Three other occupants of Naik’s car, Francis Fernandes, 25, Akshay Kinnalekar(26), and Sanvi Naik were also injured. Amar was shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital for treatment; the others are undergoing treatment at Hospicio Margao.

The Maina-Curtorim Police have booked an offense against Naik under IPC sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304A (causing death by negligence)
