In a tragic accident that took place on Tuesday around 11:30 am, a truck banged into a white Maruti Zen on the Porvorim- Mapusa highway. None of the information was revealed earlier and people assumed the victims to be dead.
Today, it has been informed that in the occurrence of the accident it was the truck that lost control and hit the car from behind. The 3 occupants were lucky enough to survive. Even after the severe damage of the vehicle, where the truck had almost submerged into the car, the survivors had a narrow escape with minor injuries. The locals immediately called an ambulance and informed the police.
According to NT, the police have informed that the right-hand side axle of the truck got damaged. This resulted in the vehicle losing control and hitting the car which was in the front. The truck also rammed into an electricity pole on the median. The impact was such that the car was totally smashed.
According to TOI, Mapusa DySP Serafin Dias told reporters that the driver (Jogendra Sharma from Margao) lost control when the front tyre of the truck was loose and came off causing the heavy-duty vehicle to hit the car.
Ratnakar Challan-62 and C Sankaran- 64 among three survivors had minor injuries and were immediately taken to GMC. The two senior citizens have been discharged after the treatment while the Head constable Ulhas Gaonka is taking the investigation further.
