The death of a 16-year-old girl from Pahchawadi in Ponda was surrounded with the mystery as according to the police her mother reported it as natural death while the post mortem report revealed the reason behind her death was strangulations.
According to the statement given by the mother of a deceased, when she returned home from the bank, she found her daughter lying dead on the chair, but when the Police Inspector of Ponda police station Mr. Sudesh Naik asked her the reason behind the bruises around the neck of a deceased, she revealed the cause of death as suicide. The police immediately sent the body for the post-mortem.
According to the police reports, the girl died due to the strangulation between 5.30 and 6.30 pm on Tuesday. The police reports also revealed that the girl’s parents had confiscated the mobile from her since she used to be on mobile throughout the day. “The girl’s parents scolded her for using the mobile phone continuously and confiscated the same from her,” said the police adding that the girl was in higher secondary and residing at Mestawada, Panchawadi in Shiroda.
The reason behind mother’s false statement to police supposed to be her fear of getting implicated in the case said the police sources. The police sources told the reporters that the incident took place between 5.30 t0 6.30 pm when the parents of the deceased were out of the house for the work.
However, the mystery over the death of a 16-year-old girl from Panchawadi Ponda still prevails as the statement of the family does not match with the autopsy reports. The family of the deceased 16-year-old girl has claimed she had committed suicide, but the forensic team has found injury marks on her face besides the strangulation mark around her neck.
Meanwhile, the DySp Sunita Sawant told the media that they have registered the case as unnatural death but the possibility of something else cannot be ruled out at the moment and matter is under investigation.
According to the police sources, the girl was at home for the whole day on Tuesday and she did not attend the classes as her mobile phone was seized by her mother in the morning.
According to the police, the deceased had sent the last text to her friend which has suggested her suicidal tendency. In the message, she wrote that ‘It was her last message to him’.
According to the Ponda Police, at the time of an incident, the deceased girl’s father and brother were at their workplaces and her mother had gone out for some work and returned back at 6.30pm. The autopsy has also suggested the time of death at around 6.15pm, said PI Sudesh Naik. Presently the matter is under investigations and Ponda police is working on it.
