The suspected persons have been traced by the CCTV cameras installed at the Porvorim ATM on the national highway. According to the sources in the Goa Police, the culprits were caught on the CCTV camera of an ATM at Porvorim on Saturday while withdrawing the money from Monika Ghurde’s ATM Card. The police have revealed that the suspects have also withdrawn the money from the ATM in Bangalore using the same card but police did not reveal their identity of them yet.

One team of the police has left for Karnataka in search of the accused. Meanwhile, the Goa Police have also requested their Bengaluru counterpart to provide them with the CCTV footages of the ATM in Bangalore where the suspected accused withdrew the cash using Monika’s ATM card.

Meanwhile, the postmortem reports of Monika have revealed that she had died due to smothering, the forensic department reserved its opinion on the alleged sexual assault on the perfumer. The 39-year-old was found dead in her rented flat in Sangolda on Thursday night. She was found naked with her hands tied to the bed.

Although the postmortem report said that the marks were found on her private parts but the panel of doctors at Goa Medical College and Hospital reserved their opinion on whether there was forcible sexual intercourse pending a serological examination. The viscera and swab would be sent to central forensic science laboratory in Hyderabad for chemical analysis.

The North Goa SP (Superintendent of Police) Umesh Gaonkar told the media that the cause of a death was “asphyxia due to compression of mouth and neck,” and he also said that it has been established that the persons involved in the crime were known to her. He also added that police is doing its investigation from all the angles including the Robbery, Murder, and Sexual assault.

“We have collected the required inputs. We have got the leads and are moving forward. We are hopeful of cracking the case very soon,” Gaonkar, who is monitoring the case, told the media. He said Ghurde’s body has been handed over to her family. Saligao police have also started recording the statements of victim’s friends, family members, neighbors and watchman of the complex. They have also visited places frequented by Ghurde to obtain clues.

Gaonkar said the watchman is being questioned to ascertain the time at which Ghurde returned to her apartment on Wednesday, and whether she was alone or accompanied by someone. He also said police are trying to establish if anything is missing from her flat.
