Mickky Pacheco to attend the Goa Assembly Monsoon Session – Speaker

The convicted legislator who is serving the 6 month imprisonment in Sada jail at the present is going to attend the Monsoon session of Goa Legislative Assembly in the month of July. The speaker of Goa Assembly Rajendra Arlekar has confirmed same while speaking to media at assembly complex. “Convicted legislator Francisco Pacheco’s attendance during the coming monsoon session of the Goa assembly would be facilitated as per the procedure” Said the speaker.

Pacheco who is the former minister for archives and archaeology in the BJP-led coalition government is a chief of Goa Vikas Party that has two legislators including him. The official procedures has been laid down by the assembly for the convicted legislator and there is not additional rules needed to be followed accept in the change in seating position of the legislator “There is no additional procedure. The only thing is, since he is not a minister, his seating arrangement will be changed; that is all,” Arlekar said.

It is to be recalled that Pacheco was forced by the CM to resign from the ministerial berth on the account of conviction and uphold of the Supreme Court’s order to sentence Mickky for the 6 month imprisonment. Mr. Arlekar clarified that as per the procedure the prison authorities will handover Pacheco to officials of the legislative assembly during the session.  “Police or jail authorities will hand over the MLA to us. We have our own watch-and-ward system. Once the MLA is handed over to us, we will take care of him,” Arlekar said. “If he attends the assembly every day of the session, the procedure will be repeated every day,” the speaker said. The Goa government will issue a notification on the dates of the assembly monsoon session in a few days.
