There is always a big gap between the order and its execution. This rule is applicable for almost everything. After an attack on Tourists from Mumbai, at Merces, by the group of history sheeter, the chief minister of Goa Manohar Parrikar had issued an orders to the police to make the list of Village Gundas, History-sheeter and punish them severely, but according to the sources, Goa police is not yet ready for the same.
There is a very old story about “Belling the Cat” wherein all the mouse holds the meeting to decide, who is going to Bell the Cat, and something similar seems to have happened in this case too. According to the sources, after the receipt of the order from the CM, there is a discussion going on the implementation of the same. Everybody wants the Gundas to remain away from the society or go behind the bars but nobody is coming forward to take a call on this.
According to the sources, the process of preparing the list of the history sheeter is already underway but there are no plans on what they will do with the list. Meanwhile, the fourth history sheeter involved into the attack on the tourists at Merces is still at large making the mockery of the police department, said the sources.
Although the Merces fight had begun with a personal scuffle, later on, it took an ugly turn, giving a bad name to the state’s tourism industry. But due to this event, one thing came to the light, and that is the failure of Goa Police to control the notorious goons and history sheeter existing in the state.
Following the event of an attack on tourists at Merces, Goa CM issued an orders to all the concern PI (Police Inspectors) station in charge to handle the goons and history sheeter with an iron hands, and in case of failure to do so the actions will be initiated against the concern stations in charge, says the order.
The police in charge of various police stations are in dilemma, following the issuance of an order from CM’s office. The sources have revealed that the police does not know, as what to do. Even three accused in the Merces fight were caught by the groups of tourists and handed them over to the police. But Goa police is still unable to trace out the fourth accused who is moving around scot free making the mockery of the police department, said the sources.
Although Goa police is busy preparing the list of the village gundas and history-sheeter, none of the officers have guts to give assurance that such incidents will not take place again. There are speculations amongst the public that police machinery has become useless as many officers are said to have been extorting the criminals for their own benefits.
The survival of the common man has become difficult under such circumstances, and there is no options left but to take the law in their own hands. The recent case of Merces is the live example of the same, wherein the tourists beat the hell out of the history sheeter and handed over them to the police who reached the spot at the end.
