The state government seems to be leaving no stone unturned to keep the confidentially of the health status of Goa’s Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Parrikar and it proves with the argument of the Attorney General of Goa who compared Mr. Parrikar with the Apple Co-Founder Steve Jobs.

According to the reports, there was strict security maintained over the health status of Manohar Parrikar. Earlier this month, a PIL (Public Interest litigation) filed by the Goa Ex Forward Member, Trajano D’Mello seeking the disclosure of the health status of the CM.

Claims were made that Goa is under leadership crisis due to the Minister’s ill health, in the petition. He also mentioned that despite physically incapacitated and bed-ridden in the ICU, Parrikar has breached constitutional trust by virtue to remain as CM despite the fact that he is physically and mentally incapable of discharging his constitutional obligations.

Responding to these allegations, The Goa government has told Bombay High Court that mere diagnosis of cancer does not mean that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is not fit enough to handle the state administration and cited Apple co-founder Steve Jobs’ accomplishments to make its point.

According to NDTV, the State Advocate General Dattaprasad Lawande on Wednesday told a division bench of Justices RM Borde and Prithviraj Chavan that the petition seeking to disclose the Minister’s health was not good in faith and intends to violate the CM’s fundamental rights and a breach of his privacy.

According to news18, the state also informed the high court that the chief minister has been regularly holding meetings with his cabinet colleagues and senior officials and monitoring the administration. Arguing in the court, the state government in its submission said, “Steve Jobs was diagnosed with the same pancreatic cancer. In fact, much of his accomplishments came after his diagnosis.” It also added saying “Just the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer is not enough to ask the chief minister to resign from office.”

The health of the Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar has been discussed from past a couple of months. Parrikar was diagnosed of pancreatic cancer and had been treated in various hospitals, including AIIMS Delhi. He was recently shifted to his residence in Dona Paula where he is undergoing treatment.

According to NDTV, Manohar Parrikar was advised to rest due to which he was unable to celebrate his 63rd birthday. He was wished for his speedy recovering through social media. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi took on Twitter to wish the CM on his birthday and called him called him “compassionate, down-to-earth and hardworking”.
