Make in India is the initiative started by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attract the foreign direct investment into the country. To launch this brand in an official ceremony in Mumbai, the BJP government had organized the program called ‘Make in India Week’ at Girgaum Chowpatty area in Mumbai which turned out to be a big disaster.

According to the news published by Zee News, a huge fire had swallowed the main stage of ‘Make in India Week’ while the cultural program was underway with some of the renowned Bollywood celebrities, senior government officers including the Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis himself was enjoying the program. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained but the short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire.

The artists were performing the lavani program on the stage when the fire broke out. More than 10 fire tenders were put into the service to control the fire said the sources. After struggling for several hours, the fire was brought under control without any casualties. The fire tenders took the time to control the fire due to heavy wind flow.

The list of celebrities includes Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis, Governor C Vidyasagar Rao, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, actors Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan, actor, and politician Hema Malini, have been safely evacuated. According to the reports, the fire started just after the performance of superstar Amitabh Bachchan followed by the Lavani program which was underway. The fire started spreading rapidly due to strong wind from the sea till the whole stage created by Bollywood set designer Nitin Desai  was gutted completely.

The opposition Shiv Sena  did not leave an opportunity to stage the attack on Chief Minister Fadanvis criticizing the Make in India initiative a failure which did not bring any foreign investment. “The Maharashtra government had failed to bring in the foreign investments which would, at least, compensate the foreign trips made by Chief Minister,” taunted Shiv Sena.

According to Shiv Sena, Maharashtra has always contributed towards the nation in a big way but Mumbai has been always looted. “There have been many investor summits held in the city in last 50 years in a way to boost the economy and industrial growth but Mumbai always been struggling to get its dues,” claimed the Sena’s party newsletter “Saamana”.

The twitter was full of tweets about the fire and its aftermath. There is no doubt that ‘Make in India’ is one of the major initiative started by Modi government, although it may have some loopholes and setbacks, but that happens in most of the cases. Development and change need a lot of time and patience. We need to support the good work started by Modi ji to take India to the next level. Please do leave your comments and suggestion.
