The Goa Government under the leadership of Manohar Parrikar is contemplating the banning on entry of local Goans into the Casinos of Goa and according to the sources this step has been taken by the government to make sure that Goans remained “CULTURED”

Although BJP-led coalition government has failed to mentioned as for why the uncultured things (Casinos) have been supported by them in the state. Many of the Goans are working in the various Casinos in the state and more than that gambles in the Casinos. Casinos were supposed to be moved out of Mandovi long time back but the issue had been kept postponing by the ruling party on various grounds.

According to the sources, the honorable Chief Minister of Goa feels that the gambling is not good but at the same time he also unable to remove them (Casinos) from the state. “I sincerely believe that gambling is not good. If we can, we should remove it (Casinos) from the state. It is human nature to gamble that is why we cannot eradicate it completely, but definitely, we cannot encourage it,” Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told DD News in an interview last night.

Now the CM feels that the local should not get involved in the gambling activities and they should become “Sanskari” (Cultured) and hence he wants to initiate the ban of locals entering into the Casinos. The PTI news agency has reported that, In a move that could draw the ire of locals in Goa, the state government is working towards banning their entry into casinos. “That is why we had decided on a policy to ban Goans from going to casinos. A lot has been done about it, and in the days to come there will be a complete ban on locals going to casinos,” he added.

The CM has once again repeated the old story of moving the Casinos from the River Mandovi which is being told to Goa for the past decade but in reality, the Casinos are not moving anywhere at least in the near future from the Mandovi. According to the sources, Parrikar said that the state government would soon relocate offshore casino vessels from River Mandovi to another location. But the state government would not be able to shut down the Casinos immediately, as some companies have invested in it.

It may be recalled that before the 2012 polls Parrikar had promised to remove the casinos from River Mandovi but after coming to power he took his famous U-TURN and said that “We had opposed casinos in the year 2007, but Congress gave six licences and made casinos fait accompli of the government that we formed in the year 2012,” Parrikar said adding that “When someone invests in the business and if we stop the business then investment don’t come.”  (source)

In 2014 Mr. Parrikar took another U-TURN and said that, If Casinos don’t leave Mandovi We will not renew their licenses, “Goa government will not renew licences of the offshore casino vessels if they do not move out of Mandovi river once their current permission expires and if they fail to shift the Government will not renew their licenses,” said the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar but it continued to float in the Mandovi river till date. In 2017 Parrikar came back into the Goan politics giving up his high-profile position as Defence Minister of Indian in the center. This time he said that the deadline for the casinos in the Mandovi is 31st March 2017. On 16th March 2017 Mr. Parrikar told one of the media reporter that “You people are very much worried about the Casinos and I assure that your worries about the casinos will be completely over in the coming months.” when reporter went to counter him on that he said the “I don’t want to reply to your question once I said that all your worries about the casinos will be over in the coming months.” (Source: Prudent)

Meanwhile in the entry of new casino in the Mandovi river gave more shock to the people of Goa. The Golden Globe Casino started advertising for the new requirements for their casino floating in the Mandovi while according to the sources their casino does not have the permissions from the Captain of Ports to run the casino in Mandovi and despite that casino started advertising in the newspaper, does this points out at the backdoor entry? please do leave your comments on this serious issue.
