On hearing her cries, the girl’s father, and other relatives, rushed to the spot and caught the ward boy who was later handed over to the cops. Police arrested 26-year-old Ghanshyam who has been working in the Hospital for about 2 years.
According to Anandnagar Police, the victim is a class 12 science student living in Bodakdev who was down with fever since September 6. “She was having constant vomiting sensation on Monday night and had informed her father about it. At 12.30am, a ward boy, identified as Ghanshyam, had come to record her temperature. Ghanshyam used to perform the duty regularly. At 2am, he had come again when she was half-asleep. He put the thermometer in her armpit and molested her. There was no doubt for her that it was intentional, Thus, when he came back to get the thermometer after a while, she threw thermometer at him. He tried to enclose the bed with a curtain when she sensed danger and started screaming. Soon after, her father, sleeping nearby, and other staff members rushed there. When they got to know about the incident, Ghanshyam Rathod was roughed up and police were called”. Said an Anandnagar police official.
According to the sources, investigators said that Rathod is unmarried and lives with his relatives at L colony in Nehrunagar. Dr. Rajendra Upadhyay , medical director of Tapan Hospital, said that Rathod is working at the hospital for the past two years and there had been no complaints. “We are cooperating with police in the investigation to ascertain what had happened. The victim is still under treatment with our hospital, showing her family’s trust in us, he said.
Rathod was arrested for the offense of Tuesday afternoon. Police have charged him with assault on women to outrage her modesty and sexual assault on a minor. It looks like the private hospital’s brands like Apollo are not safe for the woman in India. It is a disgraceful thing for the brand like that. The government needs to take strict action against such organization which appoints the staff without their background check. Please do leave your comments on this serious issue.
