Karnataka Native Arrested for Raping a Minor Girl in Goa

The rape cases involving the minor girls are on rising in the state of Goa, and most of the cases show the involvement of migrants. Here, in this case, a 31-year-old Mohammed Rafik Patel resident of Curca, Tiswadi, and Native of Haveri Karnataka was arrested for raping a 17-year-old girl from Goa.

According to the sources, the old Goa police arrested the 31-year-old Mohammed Rafik Patel in the rape case of a minor girl from south Goa. The accused is a resident of Curca situated in Tiswadi and native of Karnataka.

The original complaint of Kidnapping crime was transferred from the south Goa to Old Goa police station which states that the accused had called the victim girl to his place in North Goa in the month of November 2018 and later brought her to his residence in Kalapur where he had a forceful sexual intercourse with her and due to which she got pregnant.

After knowing about the pregnancy the accused started avoiding the victim girl and disconnected all the contacts with her. According to the sources, The accused was in friendly terms with the victims family. 

Old Goa police station in-charge Pi Jivba Dalvi informed the media that Upon receiving the complaint police immediately registered the FIR under sections 376 IPC, 8(2) of Goa Children’s Act and Section 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Accused was immediately arrested within 02 hours of registration of crime and has been remanded to 05 days police custody.

Further investigation is in progress with LPSI Veronica Coutinho under the supervision of PI Jivba Dalvi and SP North Utkrist Prasoon IPS
