Indigo Airlines had always been into the news due to some of the other reasons and this time the controversial airline have come into the spotlight for taking off before the scheduled time leaving 14 passengers on the Goa Airport. The Incident took place on Monday at Goa airport when the Hyderabad bound flight had left much before its scheduled time leaving the passengers stranded at the airport…

The Airline though made the announcement, as expected, blaming the passengers for not responding to their repeated calls. According to the sources, Flight 6E 259 of the Indigo airline from Goa to Hyderabad was to depart at 10:50 pm but ended up leaving 25 minutes ahead of time as alleged by the passengers. The flight landed at 11:40 pm, ahead of the scheduled arrival of 12:05 am.

When the news became viral, the Airline officials countered the claim of passengers saying that passengers did not board despite several announcements made in the regard. Talking to TOI, the spokesperson of IndiGo Airlines said, “The boarding gate closed at 10:25 pm and they reached the gate at 10:33 pm. IndiGo staff looked for them at the airport while making frantic announcements over the hand-held loudspeaker. The staff had even called the passengers on the phone number provided, but it turned out to be that of their travel agent, who refused to give us their phone numbers but promised that they will inform the passengers.”

Finally, without admitting the fault on their part, the Indigo Airlines provided the 14 passengers with next morning flight, making their stand clear on how much they care about their customers. “In the best interest of those passengers boarded on-time, we closed the gates and deplaned these passengers who couldn’t reach on time. Despite there is no fault on our part IndiGo shifted them to next flight tomorrow morning free of cost,”

According to the report published by Economic Times, The incident raises the question of whether IndiGo carried out “passenger baggage reconciliation”, a mandatory security norm which requires an airline to check whether all the passengers who have checked in their bags are on board the aircraft as well. An Indigo spokesperson said that the airline had offloaded the check-in bags of the said passengers.

Whatever may be the explanation of the airline, but these kinds of behavior of them make it clear that they are hardly bothered about their passengers after collecting the payment from them. What would have been the condition of the passengers if the news did not break out into the media? Would the Airlines still provide the trip to the stranded passengers? What is your experience with the private airlines in India and abroad? Please share the same with us here.
