India’s first Double Decker Shatabdi train will resume its services back from Goa to Mumbai on 6th December. The train will be flagged off from Margao Railways station by the Railway Minister.
Indian railways have finally had decided to resume the services of India’s first Double Decker Shatabdi train between Goa – Mumbai. Based on the available information from the reliable sources, this is the Second Effort made by the government of Goa to start the double-decker AC train between Goa and Mumbai after the failure of the first attempt in September 2014.
The train will leave Margao on 6th and will have the following halts before reaching its destination in Mumbai. The train will halt at Karmali, Thivim, Swantawadi, Kankavli, Ratnagiri, Chiplun, Khed, Panvel, Thane and finally Kurla station in Mumbai. The halts will be applicable both ways.
The press note released by the KRCL says that the AC Double Decker train No. 11085 will have the AC Chair Car Coaches, similar to the existing Shatabdi trains which run between Mumbai and Goa. The train will leave Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Former VT) on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 5.30am and it will reach Margao at about 5.30pm on the same day and similarly Train No 11086 will leave Margao every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at about 6 am and it will reach Mumbai by 5.10pm on the same day.
Jan Shatabdi Train Service, one of the fastest train services that started in 2002, which cover the Goa-Mumbai distance within just 8 hours time. After almost 13 years, the government is planning to bring in India’s first AC double-decker Shatabdi train which will ply between Goa – Mumbai route. According to the sources, there is a proposal to run double-decker trains between Goa and Mumbai to handle the growing demand by tourists.
Goa is being the popular beach destination in the country has a huge tourist flow traveling between Goa and Mumbai and the double-decker AC trained service will be in the position to handle this traffic and it will also help in boosting the tourism business in Goa said the senior official from Railway Ministry. “There is a proposal to run the train between Goa and Mumbai to handle the growing demand by tourist,” official added.
