India International Science Festival (IISF) will be organized by CSIR- National Institute of Oceanography at its campus on 25th September 2018. Around 1200 students from about 100 secondary as well as higher secondary schools and technical institutions are expected to participate.

The event will be inaugurated by the hands of Shripad Naik, Union Minister for AYUSH in the presence of Dr. Levinson Martins, North Goa Collector & Director Department of Science and Technology, Nila Mohanan, sectary Education Department and Jayantrao Sahasrabuddhe, National Organising Sectary, VIBHA.

IISF- 2018 is aimed at showcasing Indian science achievements and innovations to students, young researchers as well as the general public. Sunil Kumar Singh states that “we need to show students that science can make an immense difference in shaping our country, and how science can convert our country into a developed county in no time”.

During this CSIR- NIO the students will get an opportunity to visit an exhibition on innovation in marine science and technology to apprise them with the latest development in ocean research. They will also be attending various talks and watch film shows on scientific topics such as life in the ocean and marine surveying followed by an interaction with the scientist present for the event. Students from Goa whose inventions were selected for awards by SCERT will also get an opportunity to exhibit their model during the festival.

IISF- Goa is being organized by NIO in association with Vidnyan Parishad Goa with the support of Department of Education and Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of Goa as well as Press Information Bureau in an effort to provide a boost to showcasing some of our scientific and technological achievements among the young minds.

IISF launched in 2015 is a celebration to promote Science and Technology and demonstrate how science could lead India towards a developed nation within a short span of time. The long-term objective of IISF is to encourage students to study and work in scientific fields. These collective efforts of dissemination science are to educate as well as enthuse them with scientific temper.

This event is a precursor to the 4th India International Science Festival (IISF-2018) to be held at Lucknow during 5-8 October 2018. The Minister of Science and Technology and Ministry of Earth Science in association with Vijnan Bharati will be organizing this event.

IISF over the years has been established as a unique platform for connecting science, technology and innovation with the masses. Science not only deals with just that it offers many different forms of engagement such as lectures, demonstrations of instruments and exhibitions.

Department of Science and Technology is also partnered to the program and also will display 6 projects through Goa state innovation council.
