INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED AT GSL

The 68th Independence Day was celebrated at GSL with patriotic fervour. RAdm (Retd) Shekhar Mital, NM , Chairman & Managing Director unfurled the National flag at GSL campus which was sychronised with the singing of National Anthem and Guard of honour by the CISF personnel. The function was preceded by the Patriotic songs presented by GSL’s Serenade group, students of KV-1, KV-2 and CISF personnel.  Addressing the gathering, RAdm (Retd) Shekhar Mital, NM, CMD GSL lauded each and every employee of GSL for their dedication and high integrity displayed by them, during the course of duties.  CMD said  “over the years GSL has not only received recognition in the field of design capability, customer satisfaction, enhanced productivity and human resource development, but also has succeeded in establishing itself as a brand in ‘Quality ship construction’ both in domestic and international arena”.

CMD said “strategic initiative being rolled out in the past six months have resulted in the yard receiving major export orders for Two OPVs, Two Water Jet FACs and 11  FIBs. We have also been cleared by Govt. of India, Ministry of Defence for construction of Five CGOPVs, the technical discussions for which are presently in progress ”.  In order to meet the competition, and to be more responsive to the emerging needs of the market,  CMD called upon the employees to adopt new processes / systems to control the controllable variables to meet the delivery time lines.  He urged them to adopt to new changes being introduced in different spectrum of shipbuilding to remain competitive.

GSL-ID

CMD inaugurated an exhibition on CSR initiatives taken upon by the Company in diverse fields. RAdm Mital expressed hope that the Corporate Social Responsibility Project undertaken by GSL will enhance the quality of life of the people across the state.  On the occasion, GSL employees were awarded with ‘Commendation Certificates’ for outstanding performance in their respective areas of work, also meritorious students received scholarship awards from CMD.  Besides,  safe driving awards,  best turnout awards, drawing competition awards  were also presented on the occasion.  As part of the celebration, fire arm / operational drills were also organised by CISF Unit of GSL to depict their preparedness to handle any unforeseen situation.
