The 70th anniversary of Independence was celebrated at Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) with patriotic fervor. Rear Admiral Shekhar Mital, NM, IN (Retd) Chairman & Managing Director unfurled the National flag at the GSL campus, which was synchronized with the singing of National Anthem and Guard of honor by the CISF personnel. The function was preceded by Patriotic songs in Hindi, Konkani and Marathi composed and presented by GSL’s Serenade Group, CISF personnel, and students from KV School. CISF Personnel also presented very impressive Weapon drill during the program.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman & Managing Director said that “I am feeling very proud today to share with you, that our Shipyard is the fastest growing shipyard in the country with its VoP rising by over 27% as compared to previous year. We have done remarkably well in all the areas including Exports & R&D”. He also added “We have highest capital expenditure among defense PSU shipyards and infrastructure for ambitious MCMV project is being created as per schedule. Our execution record, with back to back launchings and deliveries, all ahead of schedule,numerous awards we have been showered upon, shows that we are on the right track and will continue to maintain our growth trajectory. Indeed, with very inspiring and supportive leadership, both at the Centre and the State, it is upon us to seize the opportunity and respond back with same vigour and determination, so as to do our bit in serving our great nation.”
He lauded each and every employee of GSL for the wholehearted cooperation and team spirit, which has resulted in the increased productivity and Quality of work. RAdm Mital called upon the employees to re-dedicate themselves for continued improvement of the Shipyard, Goa, and our Country.
On the occasion, GSL employees were awarded special commendation and commendation certificates for outstanding performance in their respective areas of work, while meritorious students received scholarship awards from the Chairman & Managing Director and other Directors. Besides, safety week celebration awards, safe driving awards & best turnout award for CISF were also presented on the occasion.
