The Income Tax officers from Bangalore had raided the places belonging to the senior officials of Casino Pride on Wednesday. The places include the Bungalow and a flat of Mr. Rakesh Agarwal, who is one of the directors of the Casino Pride. The raids also include the Hotel Neo Majestic which is the main hub of Casino Pride group and most of the senior officials have their offices over there. Our sources tried to get in touch with the officers of Casino Pride but none was available to speak with the media.
Presently there are only two major players in the offshore casinos in Goa, Jaydev Mody who owns the Deltin Group of Casinos and Casino Pride owned by multiple stakeholders. Casino Pride owners also have major stakes in a four-star hotel situated in Porvorim which also houses their corporate office.
The raids on the Casino Pride has come as surprise to many. The current raid includes the Bungalow at Dona Paula, where one the directors of Casino Pride Mr. Rakesh Agarwal stays. The IT sleuths also raided one his apartment situated in Caranzalem, said the sources.
According to the reports, the IT raids later continued till late evening in North as well as South Goa but, the outcome of the same has not yet been revealed by the authorities. Meanwhile, according to the sources, the Raids conducted in south Goa have been targeted towards the fishing business situated at Kutabona Jetty. The IT raids have been also conducted at Cuncolim Industrial areas, said the sources.
