Every coin has two sides of it. Likewise, every case regardless of how serious it may sound has two sides with two different stories connected to it. Unless it is insanity which is not there, in this case, both the parties have an equal opportunity to prove their points. Based on the above we are putting across the point of the accused party in this minor’s rape case.

Jennifer Monseratte, Taleigao MLA and the wife of beleaguered St. Cruz MLA Babush Monseratte told the TOI reporter Murari Shetye that her husband Babush has been framed in this case and he is innocent. “I am complete with my husband and I don’t believe in the false allegations that have been made against my husband by the girl wherein she alleged rape.” She told the reporter outside the crime branch office.
Her testimonial is valid from her point of view and the same may be established by the defenses lawyer in this case with whatever evidences that they may have. She said that “I am not only 100 percent sure but 1000 percent sure that my husband will not indulge in such activities.”
Jennifer also stressed on the point that this is the political vendetta against her husband who is getting ready to contest the Panaji constituency in the forthcoming election. Panaji is the fortress of the BJP since 1994 and Babush had hinted winning over it after the municipal elections he recently defeated the BJP panel.
There is no doubt that this might be a political vendetta as it was told to the media by the defense lawyer of the accused. But is that all the defense that presently they have? Are there any pieces of evidence about the so-called political conspiracy that they have claimed? Although presently nothing has been mentioned in the statement to the media but it may come up by the timing case goes on the floor.
There is one more point that needs to be explained here is the stand taken against the media by the defense lawyer in this case. According to the available information on the records, the investigation agencies have been asked to be guided to restrain from leaking any facts about this case into the media. What is the fear? If there is a substance, in this case, it will prevail regardless of whichever side it may be. There is no doubt that people get politically targeted but it cannot be the only stand of defense at all. There is no smoke without the fire.
