NOW THE TOURISTS COMING TO GOA-ON THEIR VACATION HAVE STARTED ATTACKING THE GOANS. THIS STORY IS NOT NEW TO GOANS, AND MANY SUCH CASES HAVE TAKEN PLACE IN THE PAST, WHEREIN THE TOURISTS HAVE ATTACKED THE LOCALS ON PETTY ISSUES. HERE, IN THIS CASE, A GOAN FAMILY FROM BAGA WAS ATTACKED BY THE GROUP OF TOURISTS (STUDENTS) FROM TAMIL NADU. THE STUDENTS WERE ON THEIR VACATION, REVEALED THE SOURCES…

It is not the acceptable that the outsiders coming in Goa for a vacation, and get indulged into the activities that are not permissible. Here, in this case, a group of 10 students (Tourists) from Tamilnadu had barged into the residence of a villager from Baga – Arpora, assaulting him and his family members in the late night of Wednesday.  

According to the sources, the groups of students were creating a nuisance in the locality, and the same was objected by one of the local residents.  When the local resident went confronting the group of tourists, they became wild and attacked him and his family members, creating tension in the area of Baga – Arpora.

According to one of the residents of Baga, the incident had taken place on Wednesday at around 10 pm. The sources further stated that when one of the local, Krishna Divkar, 43, heard the group creating a ruckus on the road near his house, and Divkar along with his brother went to stop them from creating the nuisance in the locality at night time and he also asked them to lower their voices.

Upon the confrontation, the students (tourists) became wild, and started assaulting Divkar brothers and later barged into their house and assaulted their other family members. The students were put up in the resort situated close to the Divkar’s residence, said the eyewitness.

Divkar immediately lodged a complaint against the group of students at Anjuna police station for trespassing the assaulting the family members with sticks, kicks, blows, and slaps, while also damaging a vehicle belonging to his brother. The eyewitness said that Divkar’s elderly father was also assaulted by the group of youths.

Meanwhile, hearing the noise, the taxi drivers, stationed outside the nearby resort rushed to Divkar’s house, and try to bring the situation under control. But, meantime the other tourists also came to rescue of the students making the situation more tensed in the area.

The timely arrival of police brought the situation under control, and police moved the entire group to the Anjuna police station, where the local resident Divkar lodged the complaint against S Aravindh Selvam, 21, T Dinesh Kumar, 21, Jaya Kumar, 21, Dharaniselvan, 21, Charles Iyyapillai, 21, Bhavin Joba Stephen, 21, Hiram Abi, 21, Ezhilamuthan, 21 , D Jeya Kumar, 21, and Bharath were subsequently arrested and booked under various sections of the IPC.

According to the local residents, due to the existence of a resort in that area, the tourists keep misbehaving with the locals and creates a ruckus on regular basis. Locals are now demanding for the revocation of the permission granted to the resort by the concerned authorities to stop further inconvenience to the locals.
