Chimbel is the quite notorious place in Goa having been known as the slum of Panaji. Most of the criminal activities take place here due to the saturation of migrants, unemployment, and low literacy level. In one such recent case, a 40-year-old man from Chimbel was kidnapped by the group of six unknown persons. Read the complete report here.

[su_expand more_text=”READ MORE” less_text=” ” height=”0″ hide_less=”yes” link_style=”button” link_align=”center”] According to the news published by the local daily, a group of six people forcibly abducted the 40-year-old man Mehboob Makandar from Chimbel, a suburb of Panaji. This incident took place on Tuesday evening said the Old Goa police. According to the Old Goa police, the complaint was lodged by Khadarsab Makandar from Chimbel who claimed to a cousin brother of Mehboob Makandar (originally from Belgaum Karnataka).

Khadarsab told the police that, he identified the kidnappers and narrated the names of two as Madar Makandar and Munna Makandar, both from Belgaum, Karnataka. Other four kidnappers were unknown to the complainant.

Based on the complaint Old Goa police has registered an offense under kidnapping, forming unlawful assembly and criminal conspiracy against the six accused.

According to the sources, the incident of alleged kidnapping was reported on Tuesday at around 4.15 pm at Gaulebhat Chimbel. Referring to the complaint, old Goa police informed that a white color (Tavera) car bearing Karnataka registration number was used in the offense.

According to police, the accused were known to the complainant and the victim, however, the motive behind the alleged kidnapping is not yet ascertained. A team has been sent to Karnataka and further investigations are in progress, said police.
