Panjim, January 23: Grape Escapade 2015, Goa’s most prominent wine festival began in the capital city of Panjim this evening. In keeping with the true spirit of Goa, the event got off to a flying start with music performances that set the tone for the days to come. Chief Secretary, Govt. of Goa, Shri Kewal Sharma, IAS, inaugurated the four day mega event in the distinguished presence of the Commissioner of the Panjim City Corporation, Shri. Sanjit Rodrigues, Managing Director, Goa Tourism Development Corporation, Shri. Nikhil Desai and other prominent personalities.
The Grape Escapade 2015 is conceptualized and designed to be the best ever in terms of attendance, operations, flow and offerings. Over 50,000 tourists will experience a blend of fine wine, lifestyle, haute cuisine and entertainment over 4 days. The festival which is being conducted for over a decade has come to be known as one of the biggest lifestyle festival in India.Apart from being the only festival of its kind in Goa, the Grape Escapade is also touted to be one of the most popular gourmet festivals till date.
Organized from 23th to the 26th January 2015 at the D. B. Bandodkar Grounds, Campal, Panaji-Goa, the festival will bring together restaurateurs, hoteliers, wineries and lifestyle brands, all under one roof. More than 20 wineries will pour wines, while around 15 restaurants and catering companies will offer a range of gourmet food classics, including barbecues, pasta, oriental cuisine and other delicacies. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine options will also be available, as will a bevy of luscious sweet treats.
The festival also adds economic value to Goa every year as it brings together restaurateurs, wineries, and hospitality and lifestyle players with B2B exchange and partnerships. The Grape Stomping, which is a tradition at the festival, is a source of much delight and fun for the visitors and is an intrinsic part of the festival this year as well. Crowning of the Grape Escapade 2015 Queen is also the highlight this year.
On the inaugural day, the program began with dance performances by Darren and Raquel, duet and solo performances and a live performance of Goa’s leading band, Crimson Tide.
