MGP, once was leading the state under an able leadership of Bhausaheb Bandodkar has become a rolling stone in the Goan politics today, the claims made by the MGP senior leader Sudin Dhavalikar makes the above statement clear, According to the news published in the local daily “The senior leader of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party  Ramakrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar on Sunday said that irrespective of whichever national party,  Bharatiya Janata Party or Congress gains upper hand at the state assembly election scheduled in 2017, it has to compulsorily form an alliance with the MGP for forming a stable government in Goa”. it shows that MGP do not care who gains the majority in the state as they do not seems to have the fixed loyalty towards anybody as they are ready to support any government gaining the majority in the state to form the government.

According to Sudin MGP will play the crucial role in the government formation regardless of which party gains the majority in the end, “The way Goan administration is presently proceeding, especially if one takes into consideration the financial crunch faced by the state then political alliance is a must in the future for forming the state government,” Dhavalikar said. He informed media keeping the all the options open “If national political party is not sure about the pre-poll alliance with the MGP then they would be ready to join the hands with any one after the election in post poll tie-up for forming a government in the state”.

Dhavalikar’s statement came in the backdrop of the statement made by the BJP president Amit Shah before the Goan legislators saying that they will not go for any alliance in the future for winning the election and forming of the government in the state and that they will fight the forthcoming election on their own strength. Shah addressed the state BJP MLAs, who were in Mumbai to attend party’s two-day review meeting of the ‘Maha Sampark Abhiyan’, a campaign to strengthen the BJP organization till the grassroots level. The information was revealed by one of the BJP MLA who attended the review meeting in Mumbai, according to that Shah asked the BJP Goa unit to strengthen their own self to contest the future elections of village panchayat, zilla panchayat, municipality, assembly as well as Parliament – in the future, on party’s own strength. “Shah also mentioned that henceforth we should not depend on alliances for forming government in the state,” he added.

According to the available information the BJP Goa unit under the Maha Sampark Abhiyan will soon contact people through door to door campaign to its 4.28 lakh members in the state who registered themselves during the recent membership drive. The party is also working towards increasing their membership figure to 5 lakh which is just 33% of the state population.

This mission of BJP did not stop only by getting the 33% registration but now they are planning to have regular training camps that would be held in the state with 3500 – 4000 party workers in the month of August in all electoral constituencies. Reacting to the massive membership drive of BJP in the state Dhavalikar said that MGP has also started its membership drive in Goa. “We, however, are restricting out drive in the electoral constituencies held by the MGP, the Congress and Independent MLAs,” he said. He confirmed that MGP is also in process of strengthening its organizational structure in the state at the grassroots level. Though he left not before making this final remarks of his alliance loyalty towards the BJP government, “MGP and BJP were voted to power in Goa under a pre-poll alliance, and his party from its side, is faithfully following the coalition dharma”.

It looks like MGP wants to have the cake at the same time eat it too. They are openly showing the interest of alliance with any party but keeping their faith alive in BJP. One side they talk about the faithfulness and on the other side they give hits of joining any available options. This is what politics is all about, no long term friendship and nor enmity.  In any case the fate of everyone will be finally decided by the JANATA (People) let’s wait and watch who goes where.
