Goa’s Department of Tourism gets a new Director

Panjim, September 4th – Mr. Ameya Abhyankar IAS has taken over as the new Director of the Department of Tourism.  Mr. Abhyankar will oversee the department’s role in the maintenance of the State’s beach cleanliness, beach safety, tourist policing and master plan. Mr. Abhyankar will also have additional charges of Special Secretary, Finance (Budget) and Director PPP Cell (Public Private Partnership).

Mr. Abhyankar said on the appointment, “I am delighted to take up this assignment for the beautiful State of Goa. I am looking forward to reviewing and strengthening measures for the safety and security of tourists, exploring new tourist avenues and making Goa a top tourist destination”

Mr. Ameya Abhyankar belongs to the AGMU cadre 2007 batch of the Indian Administrative Service and has held various Government posts since. Until recently, Mr. Ameya Abhyankar was the District Magistrate (New Delhi and West Delhi) and Special Inspector General of Registration (Delhi). Prior to these posts, Ameya Abhyankar was the District Commissioner and District Magistrate of Upper Subansiri (Arunachal Pradesh)

Mr. Nikhil Desai will continue to serve as Managing Director, GTDC and will oversee the development and maintenance of infrastructure, marketing, branding, promotions and festivals.
