Delhi has already acquired the title of crime city due to numerous rape cases taking place in the capital city of India and women are not safe here and now even the ragpickers have become fearless and started getting involved in this heinous crime. 

According to the reports, Delhi Police have managed to arrest one of the two accused who were involved in raping a Goan woman while she was waiting for the bus in the city Last month.  Another suspect is still on the run, for allegedly raping and assaulting a woman from Goa.

The incident took place on September 16th and the arrest was made on last Wednesday. The Police have informed that around 4000 vagabonds were verified in order to find out the identity of the suspects, especially rag pickers from Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli.

The woman, who is a native of Goa, was waiting for a bus from the Sarai Kale Khan Bus stand, but as she reached early she decided to spend the night at the nearby Indraprastha Park bus stop, police said.

She was sleeping when two men approached her and dragged her to the bushes behind the bus stop, which is located on the Ring Road and allegedly raped her. They also assaulted her when she tried to resist, the officials informed. The two men have been identified as Abdul Khalid and Munna.

The woman managed to escape with the help of a motorist who stopped on hearing her screams, and the two fled from the spot.

Police have informed that Khalid was arrested from the Sarai Kale Khan area, after a tip-off while the search for Munna is still on.

The police explained that Khalid while confessing to the crime said that he and Munna were in an inebriated state on the night that the incident took place.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said, “During the investigation, clothes of the survivor in a torn condition, her slippers and a ‘gamchha’ were recovered from the spot. The accused admitted that the towel or gamchha as it is called belonged to him.”

Khalid has now been produced before the court while also adding that raids are being conducted to nab Munna, stated Biswal.
