St Cruz MLA Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate who was involved in to the alleged rape case has quoted that the field of politics in Goa has reached to a “cheap level”, wherein political parties resort to shameful things for gaining and retaining the power. He stated that his “frame-up in the rape case” has not shaken his determination to contest for the forthcoming assembly election from the Panaji constituency. Read here what babush said about election after being released on bail.
Babush said to the Navhind times, that he has been in politics for the past 14 years. He is now shocked to see the mindset of the political parties, which aim at character assassination of their opponents for ulterior motives.
He pointed out that the “higher-ups” of the particular political party are fully aware of the plot woven against him. He said, “I know, which political party is behind the entire conspiracy, and would expose it in due time.”
Babush was granted bail by the Goa Children’s Court, Panaji, on May 18 in alleged minor rape case.
Monserrate said that the involved political parties in his frame-up should mend its ways before it is too late.
According to babush in spite of the conspiracy to involve him in a crime, it is strength of truth, which prevented distortion of his image. He said, “The people are very much aware of the things happening around them.”
St Cruz MLA maintained saying that he has full faith in the judiciary system and along with the support of his voters as well as well-wishers, he would sail through all the troubles. He stated, “I am certain that I will come out of this case clean and clear, as I have nothing to hide and carry a clean conscience.”
Babush said, “If a public representative like me can be trapped in this way, you can very well think where a common man stands in this regime.” He concluded saying that the entire incident has made him stronger in his political resolves, and he would emerge a still stronger individual after his certain release from the case.
