In one of the most disgraceful event reported by PTI, a Goa-based man killed his own kids and seriously injured his wife who is said to be of a Russian origin. It is sadder that two kids were hardly 3 and 7 years old.
Candolim police arrested the accused named Philip Fernandes for murdering two of his own children by strangulating and hitting his wife badly causing grievous injuries to her. This incident took place in the early morning of 26th December at Candolim, one of the most famous coastal belts in north Goa. According to the reports, the children were in the age group of 3 years and 7 years.
Based on the facts revealed by the sources, the diseased Catherin (daughter) was just 3 years old while the Elijah (son) was 9 years old. The police reports had confirmed that both the kids were strangulated to death. Candolim Police took the accused Philip Fernandes into custody for the interrogation while his wife Svetlana, who is said to be a Belarusian national have been admitted into the GMC (Goa Medical Collage) for the treatment. She is apparently in a critical condition.
The case is been investigated by the Candolim police officer Tushar Vernekar. The motive behind the murder is not yet known while police refrained from disclosing any more details in this case at the moment.
The news of the double murder of two small kids has shaken the entire north Goa coastal belt. The accused Philip Fernandes is 45-year-old Goan, resident of Candolim while his wife is said to be of a Russian origin. According to the available information, the accused Philip Fernandes had met Svetlana while he was working on the ship and they fell in love. Their love story culminated into marriage in the year 2007 in Goa. After the marriage, both were staying at Candolim where Philip had started the business of lodging and boarding for tourists coming to Goa.
The police sources have acknowledged that the accused Philip Fernandes has been charged under section 302 for murder and further investigation is in progress. The crime scenario is increasing in the state with the involvement of local people is also on a rise. The tolerance level is going down.
