Goa girl Trusha Ganesh, 12, became a published author last year, aged only 11, after her short story was chosen along with those of 50 other children in a national contest which saw the participation of 55,000 children.  Trusha’s writing is now part of a collection of the 50 winning short stories by children titled ‘A Twist in the Tale’. The youngster was privileged to be chosen by a jury consisting of authors Ruskin Bond and Chetan Bhagat (other than the editorial team of a leading publishing house), who interacted with the children through a live web interview during one of the three rounds of selection that took place over most part of 2013.

“I was actually pretty excited and surprised when I won the contest. I had to get through three rigorous rounds of selection,” Trusha Ganesh told. ‘Young Authors Hunt’ was launched as a nation-wide search for the best young writers in India. The initiative saw participation from over 500 cities. The story penned by Trusha — the only child from Goa whose story won the contest— tells of life through the eyes of her pet dog Feni.

“I write a few blogs and one of them speaks of life as seen through the eyes of my dog Feni and that’s how I thought of writing the short story on the same theme,” Trusha said. All the prize winners were invited to New Delhi and were presented with an autographed copy of the book by Ruskin Bond and Chetan Bhagat and were also handed a Kindle e-book reader, at a glittering ceremony held in December 2013. Speaking at the awards ceremony, Ruskin Bond, said, “These young authors left us in no doubt that they are going to be the celebrated authors of tomorrow.”

She’s been writing roughly since the third standard. Her parents set up a domain for her on WordPress when she turned nine, and it’s been blogging all the way since then. She thinks her main inspiration to continue scribbling will have to be greed. She have lusted the tranquillity, the joy, the euphoria that washes over her when she write ever since her HB extra-dark pencil first came in contact with a notebook page back in the third grade.

Trusha Ganesh was born in Chennai, grew up in Bangalore and currently lives in Goa. She have not really thought about the subjects she want to pursue later on, though her career list is huge, ranging from professional pop star to Olympic athlete. She is just 12, she is already a published author, she writes 3 blogs and she has a basketful of dreams.
