Panjim, June 22, 2015: GTDC is all set to organize Sao Joao festival on Santa Monica cruise boat near Panjim jetty on June 24, 2015. Organized by Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), the annual festival is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. Tourists will be welcomed with crowns made of leaves called ‘kopel’. The occasion will be marked by cultural programmes such as live Goan song and dance performances, along with traditional Goan cuisine.
The details of the programme are as follows:
A Sao Joao March will set the tempo for the event on board the Santa Monica cruise boat from 9.30 am. At 10.00 am the bruise vessel will set sail where there will be a line up of exciting entertainment. These include puppet acts, lemon dance, umbrella dance, bamboo dance, laughter contest, SAO JOAO Feast Pursav- A fruit and flower mascot float parade, coconut breaking contest and saree draping contest.
A Vavraddi dance, Splash Dance and selection of SAO JOAO king and Queen have also been lined up to make the festivities exciting and eventful. Scrumptious snacks and buffet will be served and lots of exciting games will be organized for children as well.
GTDC invites one and all to be a part of Sao Joao celebrations. Tickets for the same are priced as follows: Couples: Rs 1750, Individuals: Rs 850, Children (5years to 12 years) Rs 400, Children’s (Below 5) – Complimentary. Tickets will be available at the Santa Monica Jetty Counter.
