Goa will be hosting the Indian Super League’s second season final on 20th December this year at the Fatorda stadium which is the home stadium of FC Goa. For the Goa which is the party destination this event will act as a curtain raiser for Christmas and New Year festivities.
Goa has a history of best football team in the country and the same is well known in India, Goa also has lions share in producing the best footballers in the country many of them are now playing for the ISL clubs. The venue also means added motivation for FC Goa who managed to get into semi finals last year. Mrs. Nita Ambani, Founder & Chairperson of ISL promoters Football Sports Development Ltd said: “We felt it would be apt to award the ISL 2015 finale to Goa as an ode to the state’s passion for football. The fun–loving, football–crazy Goa will be a perfect destination for Indian football’s greatest party. Indian Super League is delighted to offer an exciting blend of football and festive spirit in celebration of the beautiful game.”
The ISL 2015 will kick off in October 2015 with the opening match between the defeneding chapions Atletico de Kolkata and Chennaiyin FC in Chennai. The league will witness total 56 games followed by two knock out round which will finally conclude in Goa.
The last session, which was apparently also the first session of ISL, the 10 week football extravaganza witnessed by 1.58 million people making it the world’s fourth largest attended football event in the world. ISL’s inaugural season was watched by a record 429 million viewers on TV throughout the country, being broadcast live by Star India in five languages across eight channels.
