The back to back drug cases in the state of Goa has recently unveiled the horrifying path the state is going towards. Within the period of two days. Goa police came across half a dozens of cases related to drugs in the state.

The story that started, with the death of two tourists from South India, in Anjuna, on the eve of  Independence Day, has brought shame to Goa, and it also resulted in raising a concern over the existence of police and administration in the state.

Following the news of a death of two youth in Anjuna, the police machinery was put into the action by the state administration and several people were routed off from the coastal belt for possessing the drugs. The arrests of Curlie’s owner and the operator of Club NYX was the part of this operation clean Goa.

The police force while rounding up the people from various shacks and clubs situated in Anjuna detained five youth from Curlies and Club NYX for the narcotics substances in their possession, and in the bargain, they found out about the illegal activities going on the beach shacks and clubs situated in coastal belts of Goa.

In the meantime, the police also received the information about the two sisters who were found with the of the drugs worth Rs. 16 Lakhs in their possession. According to the reports, the ANC of Goa police had conducted a raid in Khorlim, Mapusa after the police received a tip off on the general store run by two sisters, they were arrested on Tuesday. The drugs were allegedly being sold at the general store located within the premises for a long time. Police officials said that they have identified the accused a 26-year-old Yogita Naik and 23-year-old Chaitali Naik. in the possession of drugs.

According to the ANC, the raid was conducted after they received an anonymous tip off and during the search, they came across 14 kg of ganja and 20 grams of (suspected)  MDMA was found in the general store. The total value of the seized drugs is said to be 16 lakhs.

“Both the sisters have been arrested and further investigation is in progress,” said Umesh Gaonkar, Superintendent of Police, ANC. The general store had been on the radar of the ANC police for allegedly selling drugs. According to police, the ganja was being sold for around Rs 500 in sachets to their clients who were mostly youth including students, police said.
