February 18, 2015: The Glenlivet, the no. 1 single malt1 in India brought ‘The Legacy Tasting’, an exclusive tasting experience for selected patrons with its international brand ambassador Mr. Alex Robertson, on his recent seven city tour to India. In Goa, the tasting took place at Koi, a new ‘inspired Asian dining’ restaurant in Calangute, for an exclusive guest list of corporate heads, socialites and reps from the hospitality industry.
The Legacy Tasting is designed to help the definitive Speyside single malt find its way to discerning men across the globe. Alex extended this program in India for a select few HNIs wherein he curated a multi–sensory evening across metros and key cities to bring 200 years of The Glenlivet to life. The Glenlivet is the Single Malt that started it all, the only Single Malt allowed to use the name “Glenlivet”.
The session involved Alex taking esteemed guests through a guided tasting session where they synchronized their palates with the brilliantly well-balanced single malt whisky. Alex also elucidated the audience about the brand’s rich cultural history with a remarkable cast of characters that helped craft its unparalleled smooth taste and continue its legacy.
The culinary team under the guidance of Master Sommelier Vikram Singh composed an Asian-inspired menu that complemented the exceptional quality of The Glenlivet. “The 7 course degustation menu was based on individual pairings bearing in mind subtle nuances of spice, fruit and fragrant notes of the whisky’s with bold undertones of earthy textures to not only complement but also enhance the tasting experience,” Vikram Singh said.
Shefali Gandhi Singh’s latest restaurant venture Koi (after Rockfish in Baga) hosted some of the city’s whisky cognoscenti in an intimate but glittering gathering. A welcome cocktail and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a sit down 7 course menu and a course by course discourse on the pairing by Alex Robertson. The evening started with The Glenlivet 12, 15 and progressed to The Glenlivet 18 by the main course and a post dessert toast of The Glenlivet 21. The evening turned out to be a grand soiree and everyone present was appreciative of the complexity, versatility and the confluence of a myriad range of flavours throughout the tasting and pairing.
