The ‘Bhai’ seems to be back into the action once again and to start with, he ordered the Goa Cops to crack down on all the late night parties and drugs paddlers in the state. He told the police that no crime against women will not be tolerated in the state of Goa and asked them to take stringent actions against the culprits and offenders.

Goa’s Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, famously known as ‘BHAI’ in the state is known for his signature style of working. Always dressed in a simple attire and prefers to put on the sandals and he is very famous throughout the state for this unique style of his. The working style of Mr. Parrikar is also not much different. After taking over as the CM of Goa the first thing Mr. Parrikar did is the meeting with the senior officers in the Goa Police department and instructed them to deal with the drugs and night parties with iron hands.

Based on the reports published by the PTI (Press Trust of India) Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today said he has asked the police department to crack the whip on the drug trade and late night parties in the state. “Strict instructions have been given to the police department to crack down on the late night parties and the trafficking or sale of drugs in the state,” Parrikar told reporters today. The chief minister said he has also asked the police to remove encroachments, including the make-shift stalls selling various commodities, on the highways. “All such sales along the highways would be restrained except the sale of local vegetables if it is not hindering the traffic movement,” he said.

Parrikar also said that no criminal activities against the women will be tolerated in the state of Goa and the culprits will be not be spared. “Every complaint of crime against women would be investigated in detail and thorough action would be taken,” he said. But when the reporters asked him about the case of Canacona he said that he needs to speak with the investigation officer to find out more details on the case but he has always asked them to take severe actions again the culprits. “I have heard that police arrested the accused within few hours,” he told the media person.

It may be recalled that when Mr. Parrikar took over as the CM of Goa in 2012, he had a solid grip over the administration of Goa. His actions became his way living and working. People were scared to indulge in the corrupt practices then, but slowly that grip became softer on the administration and finally it slipped off from his hands. But now Mr. Parrikar has returned with the new Avatar and this Avatar of Mr. Parrikar is going to create the new challenge in front of the government servants in the state. According to the sources, the chief minister has asked the “lethargic government servants” to improve their conduct. “We are aware that some government servants are acting lethargic. I am giving them the time of seven to eight days to correct themselves,” he said adding that, “I am giving that much time (7-8 days), not more than that. After that action would be taken.”

Besides streamlining the law and order situation in the state Mr. Parrikar is also working in the direction of giving the very good gift of the budget to the common man this time. He told the PTI news agency that, the state budget, will be presented in Goa Assembly on March 24, has been drafted keeping in mind the concerns of the people of Goa. “The budget has been drafted considering the concerns of the people in the state. I had very less time to draft the budget, so many of the things might not find a place in it but it (budget) will indicate some of the policy decisions,” the CM said. “The budget will deliver the promises without pinching (referring to taxes) the people,” he added.

Parrikar had left the Goan politics in 2014 for taking over the position of a Defence Minister of India and after his exit from the Goan politics, the whole system collapsed and the new CM was unable to deal with the existing scenario which created lots of blunder in the state and the result of that was seen in the assembly election with people’s mandate going against the BJP government in the state. But despite being the second largest party in the state, Mr. Parrikar took the challenge and formed the coalition government with the help of rival parties.

The Parrikar government proved its majority on the floor of the House on March 16 by winning the trust vote with the support of 22 legislators in the Congress which reduced from 17 to 16 with the Valpoi MLA walking out of the house and later submitting his resignation. There are speculations that the Junior Rane soon going to become the part of BJP camp. Meanwhile, Mr. Parrikar kept all the crucial portfolios with himself and distributing the rest amongst all newly inducted members from the alliance.

The new decision taken by Mr. Parrikar may result into the protest from many stakeholders connected to the business of entertainment and nightlife but how much of the implementation will take place in the reality, only time will tell.
