After forming the coalition government in the state despite no mandate of the Goans the Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Parrikar had presented the Goa Budget 2017 in the assembly house today. The Budget has come with many surprises which people of Goa were not expecting at all and many called it the coalition government budget.
Liquor and Petrol were the cheapest in Goa and people from the neighboring state would frequent to Goa to fill up the tank of both these things but now with the new budget presentation by the CM of Goa, the Beer and Petrol won’t be cheaper anymore.
According to the sources, Mr. Parrikar has introduced 15% VAT on Petrol making it more expensive in the state and the price of a bulk liter of beer with alcoholic strength below five per cent and above five per cent has been hiked to Rs 20 and Rs 24 respectively. The Opposition, however, criticised the Budget claiming it had no vision, being anti-poor in nature and partial to constituencies represented by BJP MLAs.
