Generation Next for Goa wrote a smoldering letter to Goa governor Mrudula Sinha with the title “BLATANT FRAUD, CORRUPTION AND ABUSE OF POWER BY THE BJP GOVERNMENT IN THE STATE OF GOA.” According to the letter received at media desk of Goa Prism the Generation Next for Goa is a nonprofit organization which is working towards the unearthing of the rampant corruption in Goa, have exposed many scams in their duration of work in Goa. Here is the list of corruption which BJP is shielding in Goa.

Mahadev Naik Housing Loan Fraud

Based on the document obtained through RTI on 26th July 2015 they exposed the fraud done by Mahadev Naik, who is holding the portfolio of Ministry of Industries in BJP government. According to the available information Mahadev Naik has clearly made the misuse of housing scheme floated by the government of Goa for the MLAs by using the same money to purchase the commercial premises. This was the breach of contract between the government and beneficiary as the loan was made available at the nominal interest rate of just 2% and as per the guidelines the scheme was only meant to construct the house on the existing land or purchase of new flat for residence purpose only. In view of the same we filed a criminal complaiant dated 26/07/2015 with the Porvorim Police Station under Section 120- A, 177, 181, 405, 406, 409, 415, 420, 423, 463 and 464 of Indian Penal code, however till date not action has been taken by the police. A copy of complaint is annexed herewith for your perusal and necessary action.

IFFI Mega Scam 2014

Another case is the multimillion rupees scam at time of International Film Festival of India in the month of Novemenr 2014 it has been revealed that there was huge amount of corruption which lead to loss to state exchequer which is already in financial crunch. We have written to various agencies in the state to take cognizance of the matter and conduct proper investigation, however since the prime accused is an Ex MLA of the ruling dispensation the agencies have not taken any action till date, and those accused therein are further embolden.  We had filed a criminal complaint with Panjim Police Station of 01/04/2014, however after considerable delay the police has sent a reply dated 23/07/2015 stating that there is no offence made out, despite our documetary evidence. The police is dancing to the tunes of the BJP Government, which is trying to protect their Ex. MLA. We request you as a guardian of the constitution to kindly look into this matter at the earliest and prevail upon the investigating agencies to conduct a free and fair probe.

Mickky Pacheco Case

The recent months saw an abuse of power by another sitting MLA and Minister, who was convicted for assaulting an Engineer of the Electricity Department by a court of law, and the same was upheld by the country’s Apex court. Despite this the said Francisco Xavier Pacheco (Micky) was absconding and attempted to frustrate the operation of law. He made a mockery of the state police which failed to apprehend him despite numerous attempts to trace him. Finally he decided to end their misery and apparently drove in his vehicle from Delhi to Margao without once being stopped, this was a clear and blatant abuse of power. After that he has surrendered before the court of law, which ordered him to serve his sentence of imprisonment. Now it is reported that the government of Goa which comprises of his colleagues in the Assembly have decided to accept his petition for pardon and have forwarded the same to your good office for approval. We sincerely pray to you to kindly reject the same as it would have an adverse impact on the law and order in the state, given that in the words of our Deputy CM assaulting an government servant is a minor offence. Jurisprudence states that justice must not only be done but seemingly and manifestly be seen to be done.

We have completely lost faith in the legislature of the state, apparently because the legislators of the government have been seen to be blatantly abusing their power in a manner so much so that they have given the people a perception that they are above the law. Hence we call upon you to restore the faith of the common man in the constitutional institutions, failing which the state would go into anarchy and lawlessness.

We call upon you to kindly direct the concerned authorities to take cognizance of the same and initiate necessary action to bring to justice such legislators who bring to disrepute the institution of the Legislative Assembly, as the constitutional head of the state and being sworn on oath to uphold the constitution we urge you to restore the faith of the general public in the constitution by bring such perpetrators to justice. To add salt to injury the Chief Minister of the state of Goa has stated that this is a minor instance, at a time when the state is facing severe financial crunch and the common man is striving hard to make ends meet. Such irresponsible statements do not auger well for the morale of the hard working citizens of the state who are offended by such petty statements. In action on the part of the government would be sending a signal that such corrupt practices are an acceptable norm, which would be a dangerous proposition given the fact that the common man is sick and tired of the prevalent corruption in various government offices.
