Gang war concept is trying to raise its head in the state once again and the recent incident in Vasco is the burning example of the same. According to the sources, the gang war took place right in front of the Vasco Police station injuring four people. This is perhaps the most daring act of gang war that took place in Goa. This time, the gang dares to stage the attack right in front of the police station which shows that gangsters do not have the fear of police as well as the system.
According to the sources, the seriously injured person Santana Correia from Vasco had come to lodge the complaint at the police station when the group of 30 people attacked him right in front of Vasco Police station.
Police came ahead with the statement that the reason behind the fight was the previous enmity. “The previous enmity was the reason behind the fight that broke out between two groups at New Vaddem. Following the fight, Santana Correia along with others came to the Vasco police station,” said the sources in Vasco police station.
According to the sources, When Correia was standing along with three others outside the police station about 10 men from the other group laced with knives, sticks, etc. attacked them. Three suffered injuries but Correia was seriously wounded on his head and hand. He rushed to Chicalim Cottage hospital for treatment and later referred to the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim. Correia told the media that he is innocent and does not get involved into any kind of fights. “Whatever happens, I never get involved in any kind of fights. Ten people attacked one Chammu and I suggested him to lodge the police complaint. But meanwhile, the gang of 30 people reached near Vasco Police station and attacked us. My hand got fractured and I have injuries all over my body” said the complainant Santana Correia.
The goons attacked Santana with sharp weapons like knife and sticks due to which Santana received many serious injuries. The complainant also alleged that the attackers are involved in the consumption of drugs and they also harass the females.
On hearing the noise, some constables rushed outside but by then the group fled. Police recovered a knife suspected to be used in the assault. Vasco police are in search of the men. After the complaints received from Correia, Vasco police registered a case of assault.
