In a horrifying incident that took place today morning on the Bangalore Poona highway, 8 people travelling in Maruti Ertiga car had banged the tanker from behind. The impact was so hard that three out of the eight occupants killed instantly and the fourth person died on the way to the hospital.
The accident took place on the Bangalore – Poona highway near Masoba-Hitni cross under on the NH 4 at Sankeshwar Police station town limits of Hukkeri Taluka in Belganvi district.

The police have informed that the Maruti Ertiga car (GA 07 K 0120) that was proceeding towards the Kolhapur from Panaji hit the tanker from behind and crashed. The three people that killed on the spot include one lady. The names of the deceased that is provided by the Sankeshwar police includes, Girish Salgaonkar (30), Machgandha Dhananjay Narverkar (33) and Santosh Naik (37), all the three were killed on the spot. Another deceased, Dhananjay Narvekar (42) died on the way to the hospital.
The case of rash and negligence driving has been registered by the Sankeshwar police and the relatives of the deceased had been informed about the incident. Police have also informed that the remaining four occupants of the car have received the minor injuries and they are undergoing the treatment at the private hospital in Sakeshwar. Bodies of the deceased have been shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem, police said.
