Flesh Trade in Goa – Calangute Police Busted Prostitution Racket and Arrested 2 Accused

The Most sought after tourism destination of India has its own shortcomings and the existence of Flesh Trade is one of them. Calangute is highly frequented by the domestic tourists and the same results into increase in demand of a fresh trade. There are numerous cases wherein the police catch the culprits and put them behind the bar, rescuing the victim girls but, these guys manage to come out on bail and resume the trade again…

In one such incident, the Calangute police under the able guidance of Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi managed to arrest the two culprits (Pimps) involved in the prostitution racket and rescued two victim girls.

According to the sources at Calangute police station, in one the raid conducted by the Calangute police on 16th December afternoon, busted a sex racket and rescued two girls from the clutches of pimps. The entire operation was carried out under the guidance of PI Jivba Dalvi, said the sources.

According to Mr. Dalvi, he had received an information from the reliable sources that two pimps operating in the Calangute area are involved in supplying girls to the customers, and based on this tip, they arranged a dummy customer with the help of Savera NGO Member Ms. Andrea Pereira and other police staff.

After placing the demand for a girl, the dummy customer and police personnel waited for the pimps to arrive near Pimple Tree at Agrawaddo in Calangute, said the sources. After some time, two pimps arrived on two scooters with the victim girls and based on the description police immediately rounded them and rescued the victim girls.

The pimps have been identified as 1. Firoz S/o Khurshid Khan, age- 34 yrs N/o Jogeshwari,  Mumbai and 2. Vijay Mohanlal  Madan Puri, age -24 yrs, N/o Jaipur, Rajasthan. During the raid, police have attached 07 mobiles phones, one maestro scooter bearing no. GA-03-AB-9115 and one Dio scooter bearing no. GA-03-D-7854 along with cash of Rs. 15,000/-.

Both the victim girls native of Kolkata and Delhi have been lodged in Protective Home, Merces after obtaining orders from the  Sub Divisional Magistrate, Mapusa-Goa. Accused pimps have been lodged in police lockup and will be produced on remand.

The raiding team was led by PI Jivba Dalvi and consisted of PSI Vidyesh Pilgaokar, PSI Sitaram Malik, Karishma Parulekar and police constables Sanjyot Kerkar, Luence Pereira and other staff. Police have registered offense under section 3,4,5 and 7 of Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act and section 370, 370(3) of Indian Penal Code. Pi Jivba Dalvi is further investigating the case.

This has become the game of Cat and Mouse, and it will continue till the demand for the flesh trade exists in the coastal belts. Drugs and Sex is the part and parcel of the tourism and most of the tourism destinations in the world have the existence of the same. What is your opinion on this?
