The former Chief Minister of Goa and south Goa heavyweight politician Churchill Alemao has been released on bail by the special court on Monday 12th October. Churchill was picked up by police on 5th August from his residence on the pretext of interrogation and later was placed under arrest. Read full Report here… since then Churchill applied for the bail on several occasions but his bail were rejected by the courts on various grounds and this resulted in his 68 days judicial custody.

Another accused Wachasundar has also been released by the special court today. This releases looks to be an end of an investigation by police since the they have already filed the charge sheet before the court against all seven accused involved in the Louis Berger Bribery Case on 28th of September 2015.

Rajiv Gomes, the public prosecutor appearing for the Goa Police, in this case, has confirmed in front of the media, that the bail have bas been granted to both Churchill and Wachasundar. The Alemao’s arrest was followed by the Wachasunder arrest and it is clear that based on the confession of Wachasunder police managed to put their hands on Churchill, the question here still remains unanswered, that, if they arrested everybody involved into this so called ‘Louis Berger Case’ then why not ‘Kamat’?

According to the sources, both Churchill and Wachasundar were allowed the conditional bail under which both of them have been granted the bail on personal bond of rupees five lakh each and they have been also told to deposit their passports with the court. After the release of Churchill, now police is planning to concentrate back on to the former CM Kamat by challenging the anticipatory bail filed by him in the high court. This is the only reason police included the name of Kamat as the suspect in the charge sheet.

It appears to be now that the case is coming to the point from where police and investigation will come to an end and court of law will take up from here onwards. Now it looks like “the law will take its own course”. You please do leave your comments and suggestions on this issue.
