A Fatal accident involving two-wheeler and Eicher vehicle took place at Porvorim near Mall de Goa in which college student Nazir Khan died on the spot. The deceased was the student of DMC College Mapusa and was staying at Porvorim in Ramnagar Colony, said the sources. The Vehicle fled the scene after the accident. Read the complete report here.
[su_expand more_text=”READ MORE” less_text=” ” height=”0″ hide_less=”yes” link_style=”button” link_align=”center”] According to the sources, a fatal accident took place on Thursday Morning at Porvorim near the Mall involving a motorbike and Eicher in which the motorcycle rider was killed on the spot. The vehicles fled the scene after the accident.
The reason behind the accident is said to be the Hit-n-Run case and same has been ascertained with the help of CCTV cameras installed in that area. It become easier for the Police to get the footage of accident since the accident took place right near the Mall in Porvorim.
Goa Prism contacted the Porvorim police for the details on the accident and based on the information provided by the Porvorim PI Jivba Dalvi, the accident took place in the morning time when the boy was proceeding towards his college in Mapusa from his Porvorim resident.
According to the sources, the Eicher vehicle with Maharashtra registration was proceeding towards the same direction when it hit the motorcycle resulting the instant death of a boy.
According to the PI Dalvi, “It seems to be the mistake of the vehicle that fled after the accident and it is the clear instance of Hit-n-Run case. We took action immediately after receiving the information of the accident and deployed police on the task who without any delay removed all the information from the CCTV footage. We have already contacted the Nagpur police and gave them the details of the vehicle and I am sure that within 48 hours the accused will be behind the bars,” said PI Dalvi.
The exact cause of accident is still unknown but the prima facie it is confirmed as hit and run case. The arrest of the vehicle driver will put some more lights on the case and also eyewitnesses if any will help the investigation. The case is in preliminary investigation stage said the sources.
The area of Porvorim where the Mall is situated has become highly vulnerable to accidents. The vehicles are parked in haphazard manner near the highway and sometimes people don’t listen to police patrolling in that area. But when the accidents takes place people target the police first. There is need of streamlining the road safety measures near the Mall area in Porvorim.
The government had also promised the CCTV camera installations in Porvorim area long back but still the project has not taken off. It is good that there were CCTV cameras installed in the private establishments situated on the Mapusa Porvorim highway and the cleaver move of Porvorim PI Dalvi made the work of tracking the accused easier.
