If you have observed your electricity and water bills lately, it would have surely raised your eyebrows with the surprise. Whatever you have seen is of course not an illusion at all but the reality which you will have to keep facing for the next few years or until government decides to reconsider the price hike. According to the news published by the local daily on Wednesday it is self explanatory, it says that Goa BJP-led government has raised the water tariff by 100% and electricity tariff by 35% which has caused additional burden on the already tax laden people of Goa.
Congress president Luizinho Faleiro said that “The decision of the Goa BJP government to raise water tariff by 100% and the electricity tariff by 35% has hit the poor people in Goa who were already burdened with the high costs of vegetables, cereals and rice necessitated by the imposition of entry tax.” Faleiro made this statement while recently installing the Saligao block Congress committee at Alto Pilerne. Felairo alleged the BJP government saying that “This is the fooling of Goan people by the present government who have trusted them, he further said that the present government has completely failed to fulfill the promises they had made to the Goan voters.
Blaming the BJP government for their failure in keeping the promise of “Acche Din” he claimed that the Congress is the only party in India who advocates complete development and welfare of all the people. He also blamed the BJP government for causing the mining ban in Goa leading to mass unemployment in Goa and the same also lead to decrease in tourism in Goa. He urged people to rally behind the Congress and appealed to the Saligao block Congress committee to take the ideology of the Congress Party to the grassroots.
The opposition leader Shri Paratapsing Rane who was also present at the event said that the BJP went back on all their promises made during the election campaign. The former MLA of Calangute constituency who was also present at the function urged the Congress block to take the party ideology to the grassroots. Yatin Naik propagated the Congress policies and programmes to attract more youth and women. He added that the BJP was responsible for the mining ban, no industrial growth, decrease in tourism and attacks on minorities.
Whatever anybody says but at the end of the day the people of Goa is very much capable to read between the lines, they know who is correct and who is telling lies to them, they are also aware that the close approaching assembly poll is the reason behind all the controversies. They are the best judge and they will only decide the fate of the next elected members in the assembly of Goa in year 2017. Please do leave your comments and suggestions on this issue.
