The word eco-friendly is becoming very up market trend these days in Goa. Everybody talks about it, everybody wants to use the eco-friendly stuff whether it is carry bags or power source to the home. All is becoming green, today even the generators come with the Green logo on it saying its eco-friendly and one must use it. What exactly this eco-friendly is and what really we all are doing about it besides using the gadgets with logo on it saying its eco-friendly and green. The term eco-friendly is derived from Environmentally friendly (also nature friendly, and green) are terms used to refer to goods and services, laws, guidelines and policies claimed to inflict minimal or no harm on the environment. Companies sometimes use these terms to promote goods and services by making environmental marketing claims and with eco-labels and Because there is no accepted definition nor international standard for this concept, the International Organization for Standardization considers such labels too vague to be meaningful.

Besides the marketing gimmick and promotion are concerned we need to understand the actual meaning of this and start implementing the same in our lives, we need to change our lifestyle according to the demand of the environment and nature this way we will save our environment from getting vanished and also we will help creating a better tomorrow.

In the recent development in this segment one of the corporate sector Tilaknagar Industries Ltd. committed to the Grow Green initiative, has introduced a massive Tree Plantation Drive across India. TI had set itself a target of planting over 1 lac Multi Purpose Trees at various locations across the country. Goa, the richest travel destination of the country was on the map as part of this project. The green brigade of the company visited the location in Goa to take forward the plantation drive. A sizable number of volunteers and employees were involved in the activity to plant maximum number of saplings. The project was also initiated in other Indian states including Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra with 20,000 trees ready to plant. Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Amit Dahanukar Chairman and Managing Director, Tilaknagar Industries Ltd. says our target of environmental improvement is in sync with the UNEP theme – Forests: Nature at Your Service. By taking this effort, we intend to spread awareness about growing and grooming trees locally by inviting people to contribute to the Grow Green Project, a massive tree plantation drive across the nation. Over 3000 employees are being involved in the exercise of preserving and protecting the environment.

PAPERAMA INDIA is another such organization is seriously involved in the eco-friendly initiatives from the year 2004. Mr. Ghadge the partner and promoter of Paperama India has lunched the concept of the eco-friendly paper bags in Goa in year 2004 and today the company is moved into making of paper cups, paper packaging materials, handmade paper products and soft papers.
All of us do have the concern towards the nature and environment but few of us follow the guidelines. We need to help the government municipal corporations in our city to promote the paper bags, paper cups and paper packaging material instead of the giving the excuse to yourself by saying “Oh I am using the 100 micron plastic bag so its eco-friendly (doesn’t it sounds bit immature and foolish?) It does cause we cannot help the environment by increasing the use of products that effect to it but by reducing the use of the same.

Paperama India is very soon starting the eco-Friendly initiative in Goa and we want all people from Goa and those coming to Goa to take a part in these initiatives to help our own environment and make it true eco-friendly.
