This is the story of Lakhpat Jain, a resident of Ahemadabad, Gujrat who was arrested by the Goa police in the year 2013 for his alleged involvement in accepting betting in a then Champions League T-20 cricket match. According to the available information he was the regular visitor to the Casinos in Goa. According to the available information he was last seen at Casino in Goa where he had a small fight with some unknown person over certain unknown issue, who was later found dead at Altinho Slope in mysterious circumstances in April 2nd 2015.
Initially the police registered the case as unnatural death which subsequently converted into a Murder on April 6th only after Jain’s Son Mayank Jain had filed the complaint at Panaji police station alleging that his 57 year old father had been murdered. The information revealed by the Goa Police says that Jain was arrived in Goa on March 30 and was staying in starred hotel with casino in Porvorim, He was in the state to accept the bets for the Indian Premier League (IPL) that was scheduled to start on April 8, but in the early morning on April 3 police control room received the call from resident of Bhatulem informing about the body of unknown person lying on the side of slope that connects Bhatulem to Altinho in Panaji subsequently police visited the site and took the body of Mr. Jain in their custody which was later sent for the postmortem. The case was registered against the unknown persons under section 302 (murder), 392 (robbery) & 201 (destruction of evidence) of IPC.
While in process of investigation Police started tracing the whereabouts of the accused by finding the last movements of the victim and his call details to make a breakthrough in this case. The preliminary investigation had revealed that he was carrying an entry pass to an offshore casino and lived in a starred hotel in Porvorim. Police have also arrested one Mr. Vibhor Khanna from Noida on April 24 who was then released on Bail.
As a part of further investigation police on Tuesday night arrested another accused Anuradha Kapoor from Calangute, Kapoor is a native of New Delhi and according to police they had sent the team earlier to nab the accused in Delhi but she was not traceable then. Police was on keeping the track of the first accused Mr. Vibhor Khanna from Noida who was released on bail by the court recently and according to the information the second accused Kapoor was seen with Khanna at a location in Calangute on late Tuesday evening. Following the information police set an trap to nab the accused this time. Police sought the help of Calangute police station who were on patrolling duty at Calangute beach to catch the accused.
Police said when the accused, who was in the car, saw the police approaching them, she immediately tried to escape from the spot. While escaping from the spot, she dashed another vehicle and in the process, her car got stuck allowing the police to nab her. Kapoor was later handed over to Panaji police station and the further investigations are in progress.
